Flipp - Volume - 11-song CD (Artemis Records) ***

Here’s a four-member guitar band with all the pop appeal of Cheap Trick and
all the visual gimmicks of the early “Kiss.” Yup - they look great with the
costumes, makeup, and sunglasses. May I quote from the enclosed info
sheet: “It’s the epitome of the American dream of the new century: twisted,
fun, sexy, and hard.” Yes, it’s rock and the singer’s got charisma; I’m
liking the whole package. They’ve got a great sound and a great look. The
words are simple/accessible and the CD pictures and layout are top shelf.
Heaviest of the bunch is cut number four “Hairdo,” but my favorites are “La
De Da” and “C**k Rock” with its cheer-along chorus and easy chords and
melody. Other cool titles: “Psycho Babble,” “Zoom,” “Clone Me,” and “I
Still Love Rock ‘N’ Roll.”
