At first glance of the CD cover, you think you know what type of band this is going to be. Then you rethink yourself. Then you rethink yourself again. Each member has their own unique look. One member has looks reminicent of KISS, one punk rocker, one cool shady dude, and then one named Chia Karaoke. This is really cool, because the big surprise comes when you listen to their album.

Produced by A.P. Alexakis, of Everclear fame, along with the lead singer Brynn Arens, Flipp puts together a blend of Old School Rock, with more Modern Rock sounds and vocals which, seem to, have some Everclear overtones. Not exactly what I thought would come out of a group of what appear to be diverse misfits, or outcasts of society. Then again, after listening to the CD, I believe this was their intention all along. To stir the pot, to shock the listener, to get curiosity peaked and then hit you with a dose of good old fashioned, and fun, Rock and Roll. You just don’t expect to hear this type of rock played by a band that looks this way these days. (You expect similar styles to ICP, Slipknot, etc.)

After the initial shock of what I was hearing versus what I was seeing, my brain tuned into track #1. Well, the first track gave me a live show vibe. You almost felt like you were sitting in the arena listening to these guys rock. The screaming crowds added to the track further enhanced it.

Track #7 ‘Zoom’ slowed things down a bit for a song which, I believe, could be a big MTV hit. Very melodic and mood setting. This song showed me how diverse these guys could be as well.

They go from melodic ‘Zoom’ to one like Track #10 ‘The Whole Worlds Sick’ that heads back to arena rock. At 2 minutes and 26 seconds it even includes a trademark Arena Anthem for all to sing at their shows. With the whole look and sound, they kinda remind me of the good old KISS days. KISS would go from ‘Beth’ to ‘Rock and Roll All Night’ and still, today, maintain the best stage show and party ever.

The CD ends the way it began, making you part of their live experience with crowd screams and all. I understand if you see them in a big, outdoor show, you get to take home FREE Cereal! I won’t explain. You will have to see them live, for yourself, to figure this one out. - NOTE: Though a few songs were discussed, the whole album gives this feel.
