FLIPP It wasn't until 1996 that FLIPP made an impact. They won a MTV "unsigned" band contest judged by Rob Zombie and MTV staffers with their cover of The Who's MY GENERATION. Now FLIPP has signed to popularity Records (Art Alexakis from Everclear's label). This is the first band for the label and from the opening track they sound like a lighter feel of Everclear to some points. FREAK the band's first single reminds me of a dirty 80's rock n roll song. The only difference from the 80's they don't sing about girls and sex, they speak about being a loser and looking like a FREAK (boy how times change). ZOOM has that experimental sway to it. OH YEAH sounds like a gritty ol' punk anthem. Then the flash of good time rock comes into play with tracks like WHOLE WORLD'S SICK, COCK ROCK and ROCK AND ROLL STAR. FLIPP is craving to bring back the classic glam appeal into 2002. |
