Here
we are again out on tour with Everclear. We left early Wednesday morning.
Had a little trouble getting all of our gear under the bus in the storage
bays. So we had all of our merch and the drum riser inside the bus.
Not cool. So we made arrangements with the bus company to get a new
bus. They said we would be hooking up with a new bus and trading in
Tucson Arizona. We got there a day later and sat in the 112 degree heat
waiting for the other bus to show up. Eventually it did and guess who
was on it? Snoop Doggy Dogg! Him and his huge, and I mean HUGE, entourage
got out of the bus and the crews swapped all the gear. We got a couple
photos with Snoop. He was super cool. Him and Kilo disappeared for a
while. Not too sure what they were doing? Yeah, right! *cough cough*.
After that it was an hour or two to Phoenix. We checked into our hotel and crashed while a few of us sat up on the bus and partied. Next day we hit the pool, more for survival than fun, and headed off to the venue. The crowd was great and we had a blast. A short blast but a blast none the less. Mayfield Four kicked ass as well. Their new record is awesome. I suggest you check it out. American Hi-Fi really tore shit up. Great set, cool songs, they rocked. And then Everclear blew the roof off the joint. Outside of a few production problems, being it was the first night of the tour, they were fuckin' great! Right now, I'm sitting on the bus in Vegas. Half an hour until show time. There's an after show party for all the bands and then tomorrow night on our night off, Marilyn Manson is playing here. Fun fun fun! Talk soon. Oh yeah, if you can in any way shape or form, make it out to this tour, do it! It's the hottest ticket in town man. If last night, the first night, is indication of how the rest of the tour is gonna be, it's gonna be HUGE! No 5 string basses or DJs on stage. Just 4 bands with cool guitars, drums and loud amps and a piss load of attitude. Get out here and rock and roll! |

The Vegas show was awesome. Even though the doors were at 6:30 and we started shortly before 7, there was a good crowd and more importantly, a cool crowd! At the end of the night, Art got me and Brynn up to do Suffragette City by Bowie. Members from Mayfield Four and AHF also got up and the crowd went nuts. It was a gas. After the show, Art threw a party on the top floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. It was unreal! All the bands showed up and there were tons of beautiful women, booze and fun! There was a balcony where we all hung out. Without question, the best view in Vegas. Talk about posh. I kept waiting for someone to come and kick my punk ass out. The next night, Sunday, was a day off. A couple of us hooked up with a friend and hit the town for some shopping. The heat was unreal. I wasn't about to bitch though. The last 8 months in Minneapolis sucked and I feel like I'm still thawing out. After shopping we headed over to the House of Blues to catch the M.Manson show. It was awesome. That fucker kicks my ass every time. After that most everybody went and gambled. Around 1am, me and Stressman were heading back to the bus and saw Art and Kilo at a Black Jack table. We went to see how they were doing. Kilo was up considerably, so we snagged him out of there before he lost it all. Nice work Bale! Everyone meet back at the bus around 1:30am and we headed out to Salt Lake. It was sad leaving. I love Vegas man. My favorite city. We were only there two days but we made the most of it that's for sure. |

I woke up to a horrid smell. What the hell I thought. Smells aren't too uncommon on a bus full of guys eating and drinking just about anything under the sun, but this smell was different. It was as if something had died and then was eaten by something else and then that died and then that something came back to life and crawled into something else that was dead and farted. Man it was bad. Never really did find out what it was. The venue was on a huge lake. I'm guessing it was Salt Lake but who the hell knows. I never asked. The venue was kind of a huge barn. There was a ceiling but no windows. Just kind of open. We went on at around 7:30 or something and rocked to a very rowdy bunch. You could tell people came there to rock and they were not let down. This show as well as the Vegas show was Clone Me, Cock Rock, Rockstar and Half A Brain. While Brynn was doing Back in Black on drums and guitar, he belted out a little of Everclear's Santa Monica riff. Funny. All the bands kicked ass as usual. Nothing to out of the ordinary. Just a great crowd singing, moshing and tearin' it up. Me and Brynn joined EC on the Bowie song again at the end of the night. Looks like this will be a nightly happening. The crowds have been loving it, not to mention how fun it is for all of us on-stage. It's a great capper for the end of the night. Tonight, Craig went insane while singing. (He lead sings, while I play his bass.) He jumped into the crowd and was almost destroyed. It was a gas. After the show everybody was just runnin' around, hangin' out on everyone else's buses, drinkin' shootin' the shit. Totally cool. Everyone involved with this tour is cooler than hell. I don't think we could ask for a better situation to be in. It's really a blast every single day. We've only been out here a week and I'm already dreading coming home. Everclear's fans have welcomed us with open arms and if you're reading this, thanks! We took off around midnight and headed back to town to the hotel. A bunch of us were hungry so we took off to find some grub. We found this really cool all night cafe. Not sure what it was called but it was very cool. I wish there was a place like it back home. Great jukebox, cool clientele and great food and most importantly, open all night! We left early Tuesday morning to head to Wichita. Right now me and Brynn are sitting in the back of the bus watching The Simpsons. (I brought about 20 tapes full of 'em.) It's 2am. Should be getting to Kansas in a few hours. Sleep and then more rock! So for now, that's about it. See ya in space! |

Here we are in Omaha. 2 nights ago was Wichita. 4th of July. The venue was really cool. Old style ballroom doom thingy. The show was great as usual but the after show was the real story. American Hi Fi had a BBQ outside their bus and all the bands and crew showed up. Then someone came in with a bunch of fireworks. Fun! Art and a few crew guys were having roman candle fights. It was some of the funniest shit I've ever seen. But don't try this at home kids! Next day was Kansas City. Best crowd on the tour so far. Those fuckers were ready to party the second we hit the stage. Everclear's drummer, Greg, shaved his head into a mohawk. It looks great but with me around, now the poor guy has to suffer from Hawk-Envy. Ha! It was really a great night. All the bands kicked ass. Tonight's show is outdoors. Should be fun. I'll be back soon to fill you in. Make sure to check out the photos so far. I have more but time is kickin' my ass. I'm tryin' to get as much done as I can but fun is the priority. See ya in space! |

Hey all. Tried to get online yesterday to post this and some new photos. Couldn't get online. The hotel charged me $10 anyway. Fuckers! The Omaha show rocked. We started early and the crowd was still filing in. We rocked em hard though. It was the hottest show I think I've played yet. I never felt heat like that. Not even in other solar systems. Damn! We threw in a few cover song snippets. The crowd loved it and sang along. Everclear's set was the best yet. The crowd was huge and as crazy as ever. Stacy from Hi-Fi got up with me and Brynn for the Bowie song at the end of the night and Craig, while singing, has been walking on the crowd. Yes walking! The crowd puts on their hands and he walks on them. Very cool. That little punk is a psycho! Too fun. Sitting in our hotel just south of Milwaukee. Kilo and Chia and a couple crew guys went to the show. I stayed back to update you all on what's been going on. Don't you feel privileged? Ha! I'll have more photos up soon. Check back. See ya in space! |

Let's see. Last time I talked to you all was during the Summerfest show in Milwaukee that we didn't play. Apparently they're still holding a grudge. Oh well. Their loss. So after that it was Grand Rapids then Columbus and last night was Pittsburgh. I gotta start doing diary entries everyday otherwise I forget which show was which. It's a total blur out here. Or maybe it's just me spacin' out. I remember Grand Rapids was an awesome crowd. They really went nuts for Hi-Fi. It was cool. And Columbus was a really cool theater and again, the crowd was super intense. Last night was an outdoor show in Pittsburgh. Huge place along the river. The weather was beautiful and the show was a blast. Hi-Fi ended their set by getting Art and Craig up to do Surrender by Cheap Trick. Very cool. The crowd went mental. Someone threw a pair of heavy wood sandals up on stage during EC's set and Art stopped the show. He went off! Rightfully so. If either one of those shows would have hit someone, it would have knocked them out. So Art says, whoever sees someone throw something at the band, to kick the shit out of them. Everyone went nuts, the band rocked on, and no one threw anything else. Pittsburgh is really a cool city. After the show, some people we met took us to some cool bar where shots and drinks were $2 a pop. Too bad I was already half in the bag when I got there. Duff and Alex, Mayfield's guitar player, drank Tequila like it was the last night on earth. I think I counted 7 shots alone and I wasn't around them for an hour. Duff is still sleeping. We got Alex back to his bus at 1:59 and they were leaving at 2. We're good! After we closed that bar, we headed back to the bus but on the way we drove up on this tight winding road that runs along the edge of a cliff that overlooks the whole city. It was pretty damn cool. Great city, great show, great people. Can't wait to come back. Right now were about 20 minutes from Atlantic City. Again, it's another first for me. Mike, Mayfield's tour manager, as well as the VP at Art's label, and EC's keyboard player, Robbie (sp?) both have birthdays today. Should be a total blast. It's a late show tonight and we get a long set. Last night we threw La De Da in for the first time and with a little longer set tonight, who knows what Flipp gem will get tossed in the set. I voted for I Don't Care. We'll see, maybe we'll just play a bunch of covers. I want to take a minute here to thank everyone we've come in contact with throughout this tour. Every single person has been so fuckin' cool. The crowds have welcomed us with open arms and have jumped, screamed, shouted and Flipped us off with more enthusiasm than we could ever have hoped for. The other bands and crews are some of the greatest people we've met. We KNOW how lucky we are to be on this tour and don't take one second of it for granted. Wish you could all be here with us. But that time will come soon enough when we're on our own tour. Gotta run. More photos soon when I get some time. See ya in space! |
| July 14th from Freaky |
| I'm sitting here on the bus after the show in Jersey. Got a bit of a buzz on. Okay, I'm baked! At any rate, tonight was a great show. Last night in Atlantic City was okay but definitely the tamest crowd so far on the tour. I think it was the venue. It was a convention in the Trump whatever. All carpeted and fancy this and that. I don't think it's very conducive to a real rock show. Did that make sense? If not, drink a bunch and it will. Gotta run. Be back soon. |

Okay I'm back. Got side tracked there for a few days. The Atlantic City show. Fun, but like I said, not the rowdiest crowd. Everyone went gambling after the show. Except me. That's one sport I don't need to get involved in. Pretty soon I'll have my Jetpack on Ebay so I can go to Vegas. No thanks. I dropped $20 in a slot machine on the way out and won $50. That's about the extent of my gambling. Next show was in Asbury Park. Old run down part of town and an old run down theater place. Everyone bitched about the place and the sound but we loved it. It was a rockin' theater man. It looked cool and had a very cool vibe. The crowd ruled as well. Very fun show. After the show, me and Marty from Mayfield Four and a friend of mine who was in town from New York went to some dance club across the street. Can't remember the name of the place but the owner took us into the VIP room and treated us great. Free Jag baby! After that we walked through some shitty ass neighborhood to the world famous Stone Pony club. Where Bruce Springstein got his start. Who cares? Anyway, the Bacon Brothers were there. Kevin and his bro. We got there late and they were done, but their bus was still there. I played groupie and tried to get on the bus to meet him. I just watched Murder In The First the night before and wanted to meet him. His tour manager looked at me like I was the plague and blew me off. Oh well. The next day we left for Portland but stopped in New York on the way. We parked St. Mark's Place in Manhattan and had an hour and a half to shop. We hit a bunch of the cool shops and had a blast. It seemed like ten minutes. Wished we could have stayed longer. Then we hit Carnagey Deli for sandwiches and their world famous cheesecake. Words can't describe. So damn good! Their food is like a drug. Me make it a point to go there whenever were in New York. Fun! So now were in Portland and looking forward to rockin' yet another town. More soon. Sorry about the photos. I've been having time issues and problems getting online blah blah blah. Just want you to know I'm not blowin' you off, just pressed for time and shit. Keep checking back. See ya in space! |

Sittin' here in Hartford. Portland was awesome. Great crowd. When the lights went down the place went crazy. Those people were ready to rock and without question, know how to put the cock in the rock! We've been doing LaDeDa instead of Rockstar for a few shows now. It's going over great. The theater in Portland was very cool. Old torn up almost gothic real rock place. Kicked ass. Last night was Providence. Another great show. It was basically a bar. A bit like First Avenue. Packed to the fuckin' rafters. Me & Brynn were joined onstage by Marty from Mayfield Four and Stacey from Hi-Fi. Stacey and Art got in a fake fight before the song. Guitars and shit were flyin' everywhere. Funny. The crowd went nuts. Pure chaos. Rock baby! We're sitting outside the venue here in Hartford right now getting ready to go in and tear the roof off. We're leaving right after our show to head down to Myrtle Beach. Hopefully there will be some sun down there. It's been overcast and shitty out lately. The San Bernardino show may be replaced by Anahiem. I'll let Uncle Flipp know when we find out for sure so stay tuned. More new photos too. Check 'em out! The Asbury Park ones are the shit! |

Hey all. Sorry it's been so long since a post. I was laid out sicker than a dog for about 4 days. It really kicked my ass in Texas. I could barely play the show. I had over 102 temp. and couldn't even communicate with other life forms during my bass solo so we scrapped it. We had a much needed two days off after that and I just slept the whole 2 days. Feeling much better now thank you. We're in Fresno right now. Let's go back two nights ago in La Jolla. My brother lives near there so he picked me up and we hung at his new place. Did burn outs in front of his house with his '55 Chevy and I took his 500 CR dirt bike beatin' out in the desert. Super fun! Thanks bro! The show that night was pretty lame. I mean we kicked ass but the crowd seemed very laid back. Oh well, we had a blast and the fans we talked to after the show loved us. Even Art was yelling at the crowd asking them what the fuck was up. Maybe something in the water there. Last night was much better. Anaheim rocked! The venue was super cool and the vibe was rockin'. During Hi-Fi's set me and Craig from Everclear went into Mayfield Four's dressing room for some mischief. I gave him a mohawk! From the first time I saw Craig I thought, that fucker would look bad ass with a mohawk. Well, he does. He loved it. Pretty damn fun. I whacked that fucker good! Ha! We saved a bunch of his hair so be looking for that on eBay. I really don't, and can't, go back and remember too much of what happened around the time I was sick so, sorry. If I think of anything fun, I'll post it the next time I write. Things have been going much better than we ever anticipated. The end is coming near and we're all pretty sad to see this tour over. We've had a total blast! I'll try, and the other guys as well, to post more updates before the whole thing is over. Make sure to check out the photos. There's some great preshow crowd shots from Hartford. And I've received a couple newspaper articles I've sent to Uncle Flipp so check the Press page for those. See ya in space! |

| San Fran! We left the Fresno show right away after our set to head to San Fran. We all wished we could have stayed and meet some of the people there because that placed fuckin' rocked! Fresno was awesome. You people kicked our asses! Next time we'll stay and hang. We got to San Fran around 1am last night. Everybody is heading out in a different direction to explore the city. I'm going to do the Alcatraz tour. Can't wait. Shawn is going bowling with Art and a few other people. Not sure what everyone else is doing, but I'll let you know tomorrow or soon after that. Spokan may be canceled so stay tuned for details on that. |
| July 20th - Myrtle Beach, (House of Blues) from Chia |
|
A sold-out show is the ultimate Rock-n-Roll high. Walking on to a stage in a filled house is pretty fuckin' cool. I don't know if the moon was full tonight but it sure felt like it. People went ape shit. We hadn't played at this House of Blues since we'd been here with Cheap Trick. This might sound corny but playing tonights set really had me feeling like something cool is going down in Rock-N-Roll right now. My eleven finger solo was unleashed for the 1st time this tour. The response was very... Did I mention the Albino Alligator we saw? Some security guy named Sanchez told me about an alligator farm behind the club. (This was before the show.) It was loaded with many Graco Stimpy's. They fed them over 40 full-sized turkeys. Feathers and all! Kilo, Freaky & I watched with amazement and decided that we should go eat a big juicy steak. Not much more to say about that night. Simply put It was one of those perfect nights. |
| July 29th - San Fransisco, (Sun Theater) from Chia |
| The towns are getting
harder to remember. So many places in so little time. (or maybe I've been
hanging out with Kilo too much.) I think my favorite shows so far have
been... Grand Rapids, Myrtle Beach, and the Sun Bowl in Annahiem, CA.
The day before our show in Annaheim we had a day off... so off to LA we
went for a stop at Flipp's favorite Hot Dog stand "PINK'S".
If you're ever in La-La land skip Sea World and head straight to PINK'S.
Mmmm... all of that bacon-double greasy goodness. Three stomach pumps
later Brynn, Shawn, Stressless & I stopped into the world famous IMPROV
to see our good buddies the Sklar Brothers do a comedy set. They're fucking
hilarious! You might know them from hosting "Battle-Bots" or
as Siamese Twins in the new animated weekly show called "The Oblongs."
Anywho... the second we walked in the door I spotted David Spade by the
bar. Shawn freaked cuz that's one if his faves. Needless to say it was
a great night. The next night at the Sun Bowl was blow-away. The venue was spitting distance from Disneyland and it was a sold-out show. What a fantastic place. Art from Everclear joined us for a song or two at the end of "Half A Brain." I think we attempted 'Heartbreaker' by the almighty Led Zep. Brynn gave Art his guitar to play, so there I was stranded with the task of figuring out Jimmy Page licks. I'd be better off reading Braille. Can anyone say 'Pick-Slide?' Once again it was an All-Star line up for the finale encore of Everclears set. Stacy Jones from American Hi-Fi joined Brynn, Freaky and the boys up front while Kilo & Everclear's Greg Eklund kept the beat rollin' on Bowie's Suffergette City. The crowd was in a state of full-on frenzy. Craig Montoya was singing lead while walking across the crowd 'ala' Iggy Pop. Then about two thirds the way through the song I decided to hit the stage wearing nothing but my "Blow It Out Your Ass" whitey tidies, an Everclear baby tee, Freaky's Boots and a 5-string banjo. I guess the breezy ocean air was affecting my sense of reason along with my sense of pitch. A good laugh was had by all... except the first few rows of people who were force fed the sight of my bare ass. Thanks alot Davey. Onward to San Francisco. |

Hey all. Last time we talked we were in San Fran. Me and our stage manager Dan, tried to do the Alcatraz Tour. No dice. They were booked up a week in advance. Suck. So we just tooled around the city. Lots of homeless people there. I mean, A LOT! The show was great. I had a blast. Mike, the guy who runs Kissonline.com, showed up and we had a great time with him talking about Kiss shit. Hi-Fi's set was exceptional. Maybe it was the Kilo party goods I was under but man, they rocked! Next show was last night in Reno. There was a hot rod show there. Very cool! We played some covers during our set. Brynn gave a fan his guitar and then ran around the whole theater fucking with people. Fun show! The stage there was unreal. It's the Guiness Book of Records largest stage in the world. We couldn't believe how huge it was. Everyone's show was awesome and the after party was fun. Met a lot of new fans and friends. A bunch of us went gambling until about 5am. Fun fun fun. Gotta get it while we can as there's only 2 more shows. We're in Boise right now. 2 hours to showtime. Sorry about the lack of photos. Been so busy. I'll try to get some up tomorrow if not tonight. The Spokane show is on. It's moved from the Playfield to The Spokane Motorsports Complex. It's our last show of the tour. Everclear plays the last show in Portland but we won't be there. :( See ya space! |

Well, that's the end kids. Back home now and decompressing. The last show we were suppose to do was in Spokan. We got there to find the stage was just starting to get put up. Word was, there were some problems with permits or something and the show wasn't gonna happen. We hung around for a while hoping it would go on. No dice. The Mayfield Four guys were there but Hi-Fi and Everclear were not. They were both in Portland I think and were flying in but since the show was cancelled, they didn't bother. Sucks because we never got to say our thanks and good-byes. Kilo got a game of cards going and about 7 or 8 guys played while the rest of us watched and drank. Pretty fun. I think Sparky from Everclear's tour was the big money winner. After that we headed back to town, chilled a while then hooked up with the Mayfield guys at a Karaoke bar, then off to some rock club. The band had just loaded their gear and were leaving when we showed up. We talked them into bringing it back in and proceeded to get drunk and jam all night. Very fitting end to the tour. It would have been a lot better had Hi-Fi and Everclear showed, but what are ya gonna do. It was a blast to say the least. Then after that we went back to our bus and played poker till the wee hours. I think about $400 was exchanged. Ouch! Brynn being the big winner. Upon sigining off, I'd like to give some thanks. First all the crew from this tour. Wow! An unbelievable group of guys. We were really spoiled on this tour. I can't imagine working with better people. Brett, Carl, Mike, Billy, Sparky, Matt, Victory, and all the others whose names escape me, thanks a million! And the other bands. How great was it to be able to hang out all night, everynight, and listen and watch such a fucking killer group of bands. Everyone gave 110% everynight and I had a blast! I hope we can work together again, soon. Good luck to all of you! And finally the fans. All the new fans and friends we made out there. You're the reason we do what we do and we thank you. We zipped through the whole country and met so many crazy sick fuckers. You were looking for us, and we were looking for you. What a party. Can't wait till next time! Until then, thanks for havin' us and see you in space!!! |
